A Nation’s Comfort

February 15, 2018 // Denise Boggs

As the country grieves the tragedy of 17 innocent lives lost, we must all be prepared to bring comfort to those who are hurting. The shock of such evil acts is more than our minds can comprehend. The only way we can deal with losses such as this is by trusting in the God of all comfort, as well as turning to the Scriptures. As this unfortunately becomes more frequent in the day and time we live in, we need to arm ourselves with Truth.

We can comfort others with the comfort we have received, even if we haven’t experienced the same type of loss. The Comforter is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). If you have lost a child, parent, or grandparent, you know the shock and pain of death. Even though you’ve never experienced loss in the same way as those parents who lost a child in the shooting, you can still grieve and comfort them.
You carry the comfort that you received when you were grieving your own loss. So, carry that comfort to those whose hearts are shattered.

“I know you’re hurting and even though I’ve never felt the pain you are facing, I can assure you that God is a very present help in time of trouble. He is here to comfort you just as He comforted me in my time of grieving.”
