The first key to unlock your identity is to realize there is a reason why you are different and unique. It’s the differences that determine the unique purpose of God. A person who is gifted with a prophetic gift will be entirely different than someone who has the gift of service. The one who is gifted prophetically will stand back and be outspoken about the problem at hand, while the one who has the gift of service is very involved and hands on. This can cause conflict as the one serving wonders why the prophetic person isn’t helping out. It takes both being in their place to carry out the purposes of the Kingdom. I have found that once I discovered who I am in the Kingdom, and stay in my place, I can get so much more done.

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” (Jeremiah 1:5 NKJV)

When God created each of us He gave us gifts and abilities that are unique. He wanted us to discover these gifts and be diligent with them. In Jeremiah 1:5 we can see clearly that our identity and purpose go hand in hand. The unique way God created you is perfectly designed for the purpose He created you for. To discover our unique God given identity, we must take a very close look at our inward thoughts and feelings, and begin to sort them out. Some thoughts can be kept and some definitely have to go.

As I was growing up I was told to be quiet. So, I always thought I had to sit down, be quiet, and not speak out what I was seeing. If as a child your parents and teachers were always telling you to be quiet, you may have felt frustrated and confused as I did when I was silenced. If God gifted you to speak forth Truth, you will not be fulfilled until the Truth is revealed. I had to come to the point of seeing that if Truth was stirring on the inside and I was not speaking it forth, then I was disobeying God. It was the unique way He created me.
